Attending Xavier High School

Attending Xavier High School was the greatest time of my life. Xavier is where Micronesians have the opportunity to be together and learn about each others’ unique cultures. Xavier taught me many things throughout my four years in high school. I was not accustomed meeting different people from different places. I always thought Marshallese were the only Micronesian race. Meeting different people helped me experience diversity. Living in the dorm allowed me to get to know everyone and experience life without parents. As I lived on my own, I learned how to be responsible. At weekends, I did laundry by hand. The one thing that really changed me is my classmates. I will never forget the things we all went through. There were times that were good and bad. One of the bad things we did is call a girl names behind her back. When that person found out that the boys were saying bad things about her, she was sad and cried. This made us realize that we were jerks and not did think about how she felt. So one day all of us went to her and apologize to her. This gave me great relief because I thought the girl would not forgive us for what we said. From that very day, I stop talking about people behind their backs. As time passed, we learned how to cooperate and take care of one another. One day when I was very ill, my classmates were very worried about me. When I was going to the hospital my roommate accompanied me. This was the good thing about my classmates; they are very caring and supporting people. Without them, I would not be the person I am today. Xavier High School changed my life.
